Jess: Rory, I can’t wait around for you and Logan to finally hit the bricks. I know you thought I was going to wait for you to come to me, but I can’t cause lets face it, even if you and Logan don’t work out, I’m still the second choice. It’s hard to deal with that. I know you like me Rory, but I know what Logan means to you, and I’m not gonna just sit and wait for you to realize that I mean more to you.

Dean glances over at Lindsey who is talking on the phone.
Rory: it’s okay go, you and Lindsey really belong together.

Rory: I believe you.
Logan: you believe me what?
Rory: that nothing happened between you and Lily.

Luke: your on a quick trip with your grandma to North Carolina.

Cecilia: maybe you should go talk to her.
Jess: what?
Cecilia: you guys seem really close, like best friends, maybe you should just talk to her.
Jess: I guess.

Lindsey: hi, my name’s Lindsey. I love sleeping in until noon, I think chocolate is the best medicine, and I’ve been married once before.
Dean chuckles.
Dean: hi, my name’s Dean. I like to get up early, and watch the sunrise. I like coffee, and I’ve been married once before.
Lindsey: I think this is the starting of a beautiful relationship.
Dean: so do I.

Cecilia: how’d it go with Rory?
Jess: she wasn’t there.
Cecilia: maybe that’s your sign that you and Rory should give it up.
Jess: what?
Cecilia: I mean you were friends, then you dated, then you didn’t talk, then you were friends.
Cecilia: don’t you think you should have told me?
Jess: you didn’t tell me your past.
Cecilia: well my past wasn’t here, in Stars Hollow. And I wasn’t apologizing to him.
Jess: your mad cause I want to mend fences with my best friend?
Cecilia: no I’m mad that you didn’t tell me you wanted to mend fences with your ex girlfriend.
Jess: whatever.
Cecilia: like I said, maybe this was fates way of telling you that you need to give up on her.
Jess: and maybe I’m fates way of telling the people who didn’t get a second chance, that there is one.
Cecilia: this is worse than I thought. You are clearly head over heels for a girl, who has a boyfriend, and your not him.
Jess: you know maybe you we’re just something to keep my mind preoccupied so I don’t kill Logan.
Cecilia: maybe.
Cecilia heads for the door.
Cecilia: I think I could have really fallen for you.
Jess nods his head.
Jess: I didn’t think this was anything more than a spring fling. Maybe I should have told you.

Logan and Lily get on the dance floor and start to dance. The song changes to a slow song. Logan and Lily change positions. Lily looks at Logan. He starts to smile. She leans in to kiss him.
Logan: Lily don’t.

Logan: will you tell Rory I had to go?
Lily: yes.

Logan hugs Lily.

It’s pitch dark outside, Luke and Lorelai are laying side by side. The phone rings. Lorelai sits up, she looks around the phone rings again.
Luke (mumbling): turn that alarm off.
Lorelai: it’s not an alarm.
Luke sits up.
Luke: what is it?
Lorelai: I think it’s the phone.
Luke: what do you mean you think?
The phone rings again.
Luke: well that would be the phone.
Lorelai gets up and goes over the dresser she finds the phone.
Lorelai: hello?
Emily: Lorelai, it’s your mother, I need you to come home right now.
Lorelai: mom?
Emily: I just said that.
Lorelai: aren’t you suppose to be with Rory in North Carolina? Is Rory okay?
Emily: oh umm…… I came home early the cheeseburger just wasn’t that tempting, but Rory decided to go ahead and go. Anyways I need you to come home, your fathers been put in jail.
Lorelai: dad?
Emily: yes Lorelai, do you have brain damage or something?
Lorelai: well when it’s this late at night……
Emily: it’s in the morning.
Lorelai: well when it’s this early in the morning, my brains not really working to it’s full potential.
Emily: you need to pack, and get here we’re going to New York.
Emily hangs the phone up.
Luke: what’s going on?
Lorelai: I guess my dad’s in jail, and my mom didn’t really want to go see that delighted cheeseburger.
Luke: oh my god, your dad’s in jail? Is he alright?
Lorelai: I don’t know she didn’t give me all the details just that she needed me help.
Luke: well start packing, we don’t want you to upset your mother this early in the morning. That would be scary.
Lorelai walks in the bathroom.
Lorelai: my moms scary period.

A FEW HOURS LATER

Luke is wiping down the counters. Ceaser walks in he has a few leis around his neck.
Ceaser: Luke!
Ceaser goes and hugs Luke.
Luke: it’s good to see you Ceaser, did you have a good time in Hawaii?
Ceaser: the best. I’m definitely going back.
Luke chuckles.
Luke: what’s your shirt say?
Ceaser: I GOT LEID IN HAWAII!
Luke chuckles again.
Miss Patty: good for you honey.
Babette: yeah you go sugar.
Zach comes from the back.
Zach: CEASER!
Ceaser: ZACH!
Zach and Ceaser hug.
Ceaser: it’s good to see you.
Zach: it’s good to see you too. Did you bring me something good back?
Zach and Ceaser walk into the kitchen. Luke walks over to Kirk.
Luke: you ready for your check Kirk?
Kirk jumps.
Kirk: no I do want a kid? Are you crazy?!
Luke looks around everyone is staring at Kirk.
Luke: you okay Kirk?
Kirk looks around at everyone.
Kirk: I guess.
Luke sighs.
Luke: what’s the matter?
Kirk: it’s okay you don’t want to hear it.
Luke: yeah I do.
Kirk: are you sure?
Luke: yes.
Kirk: okay, well Lulu, well she’s umm……well she’s pregnant.
Luke stares at Kirk blankly. Everyone in the diner gasp. There’s a silence. Lorelai walks in. She looks around, and walks over to Luke.
Lorelai: what are we doing?
Miss Patty: that’s awesome Kirk.
Babette: yeah hun, you did good.
Morey: that’s cool man.
Luke: congrats Kirk.
Kirk (to Luke): I wasn’t suppose to tell anyone.
Luke looks around.
Luke: well everyone knows.
Kirk: Lulu’s going to kill me.
Kirk runs out. Everyone returns to talking.
Lorelai: what was all that about?
Luke: well Lulu’s pregnant.
Lorelai: really? That’s great.
Luke: yeah.
Lorelai sets her bag down.
Luke: is this all your taking?
Lorelai: yeah, I don’t plan on being gone that long.
Luke: okay. Is your mom meeting you here?
Lorelai: yeah, she was on her way about 15 minutes ago, so she should be here in about 10 minutes.
Luke: oh, I forgot to tell you, I have to go everyday for the rest of this week to Hartford, they are having some kind of diner conference and I have never gone, and they really want me to, so I’m just gonna get a hotel room, and stay there, I‘ll probably come back to the diner at night, and then drive back out when I‘m done..
Lorelai: oh okay. For how long?
Luke: well today’s Thursday, and it starts today, so until Sunday.
Lorelai: well who’s going to take care of the diner?
Luke: Jess, Zach, and now that Ceaser’s back, him too.
Lorelai: oh okay.
Jess comes down the stairs.
Jess: Luke I think the fridge is broken.
Luke: I’ll take a look at it.
Luke looks at Lorelai.
Luke: I’ll be right back.
Luke goes up stairs. Lorelai sits down, and watches Jess. He pours himself a cup coffee and sits down next to Lorelai.
Lorelai: so, did you find Rory that night I called you?
Jess: yeah, she was out in the gazebo, crying.
Lorelai (concerned): why was she crying?
Jess: well she sorta saw me and Cecilia kissing.
Lorelai (relieved): oh. Well that would explain it.
Jess: yeah.
Lorelai and Jess sit in silence for a moment.
Jess: I think I hurt her feelings though.
Lorelai: why?
Jess: cause I told her I wasn’t going to wait around for her to want me.
Lorelai nods her head.
Jess: but I am.
Lorelai looks at Jess.
Lorelai: then why did you tell her you weren’t?
Jess: cause I can’t sink as low as Dean or Logan, I gotta be higher, something she’s had a taste of and she wants the whole thing.
Lorelai: okay, I got you, you wanna be something different, you don’t want to fit into the same mold as Dean and Logan.
Jess: exactly.
Luke comes down.
Luke: nope, just had to turn the temperature up.
Jess: oh.
Emily pulls up outside and honks.
Lorelai: that’s my ride.
Lorelai looks at Luke.
Lorelai: have fun in Hartford.
Luke: have fun in New York.
Lorelai and Luke kiss.
Jess: guys I’m eating here.
Lorelai: sorry. I’m gone.
Lorelai leaves.
Luke: I’m gone too.
Luke follows in suit behind Lorelai.
Jess: and I’m here.

Jess, Zach, and Ceaser are all sitting at a table at Luke’s.
Ceaser: so what’s the latest with Rory and Jess?
Zach: oh that whole mess. Be glad that you weren’t here for it.
Ceaser looks at Jess. Jess punches Zach.
Ceaser: what happened?
Zach: well……
Jess: I’m going to go to bed, and you two gossiping girls need to go to bed too.
Ceaser and Zach get up.
Ceaser: okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.
Zach: yeah Jess, tomorrow.
Ceaser and Zach leave.

Lorelai and Emily are sitting on two separate beds at a hotel.
Lorelai: mom.
Emily: yes Lorelai?
Lorelai: are you really worried about dad?
Emily: yes, I really am. Your father has never been in any trouble before.
Lorelai: well do you know what he did to get in trouble?
Emily: no clue.
Lorelai: well it can’t be that bad, cause no offence, but your husband is real dangerous.
Emily: I know.

THE NEXT MORNING

Rory and April walk in the front door.
Rory: excuse the mess.
April: it’s okay, when I stayed with Luke, his place was a lot worse.
Rory: well you’ll probably be staying in my room.
April: well where will you stay?
Rory: I was thinking about getting a new place.
April: oh, well I don’t want to kick you out of your room.
Rory: it’s okay.
April: but what about Logan, where will you guys sleep until then?
Rory: well take the couch.
April: are you sure?
Rory: positive.
Rory shuts the door.
Rory: okay, you’re a surprise, don’t forget it.
April: what if she doesn’t want me to stay?
Rory: she does.
Rory smiles at April. April smiles back.
Rory: MOM I’M BACK!!
There’s a silence.
Rory: MOM?
There still is no answer.
Rory: hmm…… maybe she’s at the inn. You can just leave your bag right here.
April sets her bag down. Rory and April leave.

Rory: MOM?
Rory and April look around. Sookie comes out.
Sookie: Rory?
Rory turns around.
Rory: hey Sookie.
Sookie: did you have a good trip? Did you get April.
Sookie looks at April.
Sookie: Hi April.
April: Hi Sookie, how’s Martha, and Davey?
Sookie: they’re really good.
April: that’s good.
Rory: where’s mom?
Sookie: oh didn’t she tell you? Oh probably not, she had to go to New York with your grandma cause your grandpa is in jail. Can you believe that? Jail.
Rory: oh. No. She didn’t tell me, but that’s okay. Anyways thanks Sookie.
Sookie: yeah, no problem.
April and Rory head outside.
Rory: well my mom’s not here, so I guess we could go to the diner so you could see Luke.
April: okay.

AT THE DINER

April and Rory walk into the diner. Ceaser is talking to Kirk.
Rory: Ceaser! Your back from Hawaii?
Ceaser goes over to Rory and picks her up in a hug.
Ceaser: it’s good to see your Rory, I missed you.
Rory: I missed you too.
Ceaser sets Rory down, and does the same to April.
April: oh, wow. It’s good to see you too Ceaser.
Jess comes downstairs. He sees Rory, then April.
Jess: hey April.
April: oh hey Jess.
Rory turns her attention to Ceaser.
Rory: Ceaser, is Luke here?
Ceaser: oh actually he’ll be staying in Hartford, for the weekend.
Rory: oh.
Rory looks at April.
Rory: I could drive you to Hartford, and you could stay there with him. If you want.
April: yeah, that would be fun.
Jess is still staring at Rory. Zach comes up from behind Jess.
Zach: you gonna kill her with your eyes?
Jess looks at Zach.
Jess: shut-up.
Rory: bye Ceaser, glad you came back in one piece. Zach, tell Lane and the boys hi for me.
Zach: will do.
Ceaser and Zach both look for her to say something to Jess. She doesn’t.
Rory: you ready April?
April: yeah. Bye Jess.
Rory and April walk out and run into Dean and Lindsey.
Rory: oh sorry.
Dean: it’s okay.
Rory: hi Lindsey, it’s good to see you.
Lindsey: yeah. You too.
Rory looks at April.
Rory: oh Dean, this is April. April this is Dean.
Dean: it’s nice to meet you.
April: you too.
Rory: and this is Lindsey.
April: Hi.
They all stand there in silence.
Rory: well….
There’s still silence.
Rory: how would you two like to come over for dinner tonight?
Dean looks at Lindsey.
Lindsey: sure, that would be nice.
Rory: okay great, how about 6:30.
Dean: sounds good.
Rory: I’ll see you then.
Rory and April leave.

April and Rory walk into Luke’s hotel. Luke is talking to some people. He sees Rory and April. April runs over to him.
Luke: April. It’s so good to see you.
Luke and April hug.
April: I’ve missed you.
Rory comes up.
Rory: Hey Luke.
Rory and Luke hug.
Luke: thank you.
Rory: no problem.
Luke smiles.
Rory: I was wondering, do you mind if April stays with you while you’re here in Hartford?
Luke: no, that’s perfectly fine. I mean as long as April wants to.
April: I want to.
Luke: okay.
Rory: alright well I gotta go cook a meal, I’ll see you Monday.
Rory hugs April.
Rory: bye.
April: bye.

Dean, Lindsey, and Rory are all laughing.
Dean: I’m gonna go to the bathroom.
Rory: I’m going to go ahead and clean up.
Dean goes to the bathroom. Rory stands up and puts the dishes in the sink.
Lindsey: hey Rory?
Rory: yeah?
Lindsey: can I ask you a question?
Rory: sure.
Lindsey: do you still have feelings for Dean?
Rory turns around to look at Lindsey.
Rory: Lindsey, I don’t. I love Logan.
Lindsey shakes her head. Dean comes out of the bathroom.
Dean: well I guess we better be going.
Lindsey: yeah.
Dean: thank you Rory, it was really good.
Lindsey: yeah Rory, next time we’ll have to have you and Logan over for dinner, and if Logan’s gone, we’ll get Jess, I hear you guys are real good friends.
Rory looks down at her feet.
Rory: yeah, we’ll get Logan, and have dinner again.
Lindsey: bye Rory.
Lindsey and Dean leave.
